Choose the perfect duvet and pillow
Choose the right duvet

It is important to take advice on the choice of the right duvet. Duvets can be light, heavy, hot, warm, cool, short, long, cheap, expensive etc. Listen to the advice of the sales person and choose the product that suits your needs best.

As a customer, you should choose a duvet that meets your special needs. This goes not only for the length and width of the quilt, but also for the type of shell and fill. Choosing a quilt may become complicated unless you follow a few
simple rules.

First, you need to decide which type of fill and shell you want. You also need to decide whether the duvet will be used in summer or winter, or in spring and autumn. And then, of course, there are the usual questions about whether you
sleep with your windows open, have district heating etc.

An often forgotten but important parameter is the size of the duvet. What length and width should it be? The length is really not that complicated. Our simple guideline is that the duvet should be at least 30 cm longer than your height. If you are 170 cm, then a duvet of 200 cm is long enough. If, on the other hand, you are 180 cm, we will always recommend a 220 cm duvet. If the duvet is too short, your feet will be cold, especially when you are getting on in years. Don't forget that our duvets are durable.

However, the width of the duvet is not quite so simple. First, you need to choose between single and double size. If you want a single duvet, choose one that is at least 30 cm wider than your chest measurement. This ensures that it covers you completely. If you go for a double size duvet, consider whether you and your partner have the same sleeping habits and the same requirements to warmth and cold. If you are chilly and your partner is hot, a double duvet may become a great challenge! If this is the case, a double duvet is not recommended. If you decide that you want a double duvet, get it at least as wide as your bed.

Summary:

  • The duvet should be at least 30 cm longer than your height
  • A single duvet should be at least 30 cm wider than your chest measurement
  • A double duvet should be at least as wide as your bed
  • A double duvet is not a good idea if your partner is hot and you are chilly
Choose the right pillow

The pillow is probably the most important thing in the bedroom, second to your partner, of course! Unfortunately, way too many people do not take enough time to choose the right pillow. In fact, people often seem to regard their pillow as something they inherited from their mother-in-law, not the individual choice it should be.

Regardless of size, when choosing a pillow, you need to think about whether you are hot at night, read in bed, use more than one pillow, want it to be soft/firm and how much support you want. The latter depends especially on whether you sleep on your side, back or stomach.

If you sleep on your side, a firm pillow is important for optimal support to your neck. If you sleep on your back or stomach, it is important to have a soft pillow with a high down content as it is easier to "squeeze" to suit you. It also depends on whether you are male or female. A man sleeping on his side often requires a higher pillow than a woman sleeping on her side.

Summary:

  • If you sleep on your side, choose a thick pillow
  • If you sleep on your back or stomach, choose a soft pillow
  • When choosing a pillow, try to squeeze it and hold it to your cheek to find out whether it suits you
